Re: 2 questions about alberta plz???
Hi Jamie & Kelly,
I am in the process of emigrating to Calgary. We did as much research as possible and I found out that it is not possible to go over on plumbing qualifications without have at least 9000hrs experience. If your hub has this then he can go over on the skilled worker and will need to pass the red seal exam after being in the country for about 6 months (I Think). The way we are doing it (after many disappointments) my wife has secured a job and they have received their positive LMO and we are now waiting to get our WP. So I am basically going over on my wifes job. I then receive a open WP and have secured a job as a plumbers apprentice with a large Plumbing company in Calgary. it is quite confusing working as a apprentice, because when you are at SAIT collage doing your 8 week course, the company actually lay you off and you don't get paid:eek:, but that's when you take out EI (employment insurance) so you are covered. I hope this helps some, good luck, regards, Carl:thumbsup: |

Hi everyone i hope you dont mind but we have a couple of questions we hope someone may be able to answer?
1. the weather in alberta, truthfully? mainly calgary but also edmonton please? 2. im training to be a nurse but my husband is doing a long distance (but with 3 week long practical exams) plumbing course its all registered and proper and at the end he will have the same qualifications as a 17 yr old who has done a 3yr apprenticeship, our question is IF we wanted to go on my husbands plumbing quals would he also need work exp or could he secure a job from here that would enable him nomination?? any help would really be appreciated thanks in advance jamie and kelly x From Edmonton - here 27 years - the winters are way milder than they used to be. Never have not been able to get to work. (darn!) As previously mentioned - it is cold and DRY - with bright blue sunny skies - would much prefer that to dull. grey and damp weather -that is depressing. Summers are hot - just nagged my husband into getting Air Conditioning - fantastic and used a lot this year. You get 4 seasons here. Hope this helps |
