1st Landing and layover
Hello,
We are going to land soon to Halifax through Toronto via AIR CANADA but problem is we have only 1.4hr layover time. Do you think it will enough to collect bags, customs and immigration? Thanks |
Re: 1st Landing and layover
We recently did this at Toronto - it took over 2 hours for immigration and then we had to do goods to follow. Took about 3 hours in total. I would be shocked if you could do it all in 1.5 hours especially as you have to go through security etc for the next flight. I would call Air Canada and try to change the connection or at least find out what happens if you don't make your connection. Good luck! |
Re: 1st Landing and layover
No. That is not enough connection time for you to go through landing ............ it would not be enough time for a resident to return to Canada, and clear customs and immigration.
Toronto is a very busy airport. It is also a large airport, and you will have quite a distance to walk between Customs and Immigration and Domestic departures. You need to change that connection ..... I would be tempted to suggest that you allow 4-5 HOURS between landing and boarding your next flight. |
Re: 1st Landing and layover
No - you are toast!

Its saying following :
Date Changes Before Departure - Not Permitted Date Changes Before Inbound Departure - Not Permitted Cancellation Fees Before Departure - No Refunds Cancellation Fees After Departure / No Shows / Partly Used Tickets - No Refunds :banghead: |
Re: 1st Landing and layover
I tend to be generally optimistic and hope that things will work well...but this time space is just too short...you have to change this flight or everything will go oblong. It might cost you, but money is just money, sanity and ease of mind cannot be rated too highly. You want your first encounter with immigration personnel to be a positive experience! Very, very best of luck:thumbup: |

This was your mistake mate (possibly abetted by an incompetent travel agent). You'll have to buy later flights from YYZ to Halifax. Make sure you only check your bags through to YYZ at your departure airport hough.

:banghead: Now begs the question if the website will allow you to book. I am pretty sure you could use Expedia to book a domestic flight if the Air Canada link doesn't. Link for baggage fees https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...-services.html |
Re: 1st Landing and layover
Why does it have to be Air Canada from Toronto to Halifax?
Try Westjet or Porter, both direct on their own websites |

Try Westjet or Porter, both direct on their own websites I also echo others comments that the layover time is just not long enough. I usually figure around an hour from getting off the plane to being out of the airport for a normal trip, and that is just a regular international incoming flight as a Canadian citizen. I think when I first came over and got my work permit the whole process was probably about two and half hours from plane to exit. |
