Citizenship through war refugee route?

Hi all,

I am British but my grandparents and all previous generations were all from Belgium.
My grandad was born in De Panne 1908, but they became war refugees in 1914 and seeked asylum in the UK during WW1. Already found his state records of birth in West Flankers in digital format.

I have gathering documents from Belgium and my Dad to open a nationality file with the embassy.

Has anyone been in the same scenario with parents/grandparents as war refugees in 1914 and managed to gain citizenship through this route? Slim chance but worth a shot - nothing to lose.
Was said it might be feasible.

Thanks
Chris

Is this a separately recognised route or are you attempting to gain citizenship by ‘double’ descent?

Not entirely sure yet. I'm investigating with the embassy.
I wrote to EU Blue Card Network

Their response was

Difficult through grandparents. As they were war refugees, it may be feasible. Documentation to support such a claim is important
So anyway I'm gathering all the documents I can to open a nationality file case with the embassy. Certainly worth a shot.
