Me too..I just carried on working while some people got dressed up with fancy clothes, hats, drinking champers, eating cup cakes. I did the head down, bum up. Can't cope with the kerfuffle, not my cuppa tea tbh

Oh I hear plenty, don't worry, I've been taught well best way to learn both the job and the office politics Its like the interminable morning tea and cake sessions, turn up and smile sweetly while on the way to somewhere else clutching what appears to be a pile of paper, makes them all think I'm too busy to stop, when in fact its that I just don't like being paid to do tea-and-cake sessions

Of course you don't. However, being paid to go to the pub would be well liked I'd imagine.

... you can nip your littlin round to the stunning, clean beach (in minutes) for an hour or so, before the school run.

... you can nip your littlin round to the beach at any time, with the knowledge there are (open) spotlessly clean public toilets.

Amazing really compared with back home. I once had to wait over a week to see my doctor that side. It was like: if my immune system doesn't bump-start into kicking in by then I'll be dead

I don't doubt you but that was not my experience or the experience of most people I know.

You don't have to move across the world to get a quicker doctor's appointment.

I tried, they were closed

It was the same at our local surgery in York (although not quite as bad as you described, you could usually get an appointment within a couple of days) - the absolute best system I came across was when we lived near Wrexham. There, you could make an appointment with the doctor of your choice or if it was urgent, you could bob along on a morning and wait to see whichever doctor was doing an open surgery that day.

Most surgeries had open appointments like that....I worked in a few

No use telling that to people who just don't want to acknowledge it.
