Stick to dollars?

Jesus Christ, how do you compare each purchase with the current going rate in the UK?

How can you live like this?

I prefer to compare with the prices I paid when I last lived there. Makes life more interesting. It also makes me kind of sound like my dad 'HOW much?????'

I couldn't tell you what groceries, for example, cost in the UK 7 years ago ... It wasn't on my radar, I just bought stuff to eat. The single life ...

Thinking about it there was precious little decent food in my flat, the fridge was well-stocked with other stuff though

These days it's all Organic this and Free Range that ... It's progress I guess ...

Talking of which I have some eggs from the chooks next door that need hard-boiling and sandwiching between some bread ... I suddenly feel the need for salad cream ... Of which we have none.

Chooks next door ... now that isn't a phrase I would have used 7 years ago ...

The Japanese stuff in a sort of icing tube bottle is pretty decent IMO.

well thats probably my problem; i've been gravitating towards things like "Real French Mayonnaise" or "Euro Style", because it is after all a Franco name. Yet they all taste of either salad cream, or really shitty mayonnaise.

Sounds insular(*) but it didnt occur to me that they even made mayonnaise in japan!

(*) and maybe a tiny bit covert-racist too?

If anyone knows where to get the German Salad Mayonnaise I would be very happy - the stuff they smother on chips on 'the continent'

The one the boys went to in Qld didn't - the one here in NSW does have a 'sport' kit, but they wear it all day on a Wednesday (which is when they have their afternoon of external sports)

Still seems weird, how the hell can you "forget" your kit if you have to go to school in it?

So there was no student nurses accommodation anywhere?

I can remember I think what a travel card cost in 2003 - it's a fair bit now.

I use the Hellman's best foods one: this forum steered me away from the one my wife gets: an 'egg mayo' which is sicklier. Only product choice caused by BE, and only because I was interested when everyone said it was not the same, yes it is, no it isn't ..

Travel Cards ... The things you forget ... Grab one at Chatham station then off to the big smoke for fun and games.

Actually, the last time I used one (or was in London, for that matter) was for my immigration medical.

I remember regularly coming back with my nose full of dust and grit and swearing I would never work there. But I had to for 6 months, that was enough for me.

I also remember the first commute into Brisbane on the train and thinking what a pleasant change it was ...

Now I want to avoid the commute completely, time eh?

It's 33 one day and 11 the next. That's degrees celcius, not dollars!
