Re: You know you are in Australia when...
I'm pretty sure I've observed it on more than one occasion (with flashing lights too). It occurred to me that maybe the ambos, etc themselves can control the lights like this but was told from "the horses mouth" that it's not yet been implemented in the ACT - though plans are afoot to introduce it because the capability is already in place. It's already been rolled out in parts of Qld and South Australia.
But it seems that even the ESA drivers are uncertain.

YKYIA when you brace yourself to get in the swimming pool and it's as warm as soup. And a number of Ozzies are inching themselves into it squealing.

Whilst still in office, the Governor-General (the Queens representative in Australia) reportedly publicly backs Australia becoming a republic. WTF!!

What I like about those frozen pies is that they can be put in the fridge ready for my boys to heat up in just 15 mins using the convection oven.
The oven in our rental is dire - probably the worst ever, so we made a plan and bought a standalone one for about $100. Does most of what we need. We also have one of those glass bowl ovens - great for roasting, etc and a breeze to clean.

In the UK, frozen pies are uncooked when bought and need to be baked whereas in Australia they are pre-baked and just need to be warmed up.
