What a weird sign! I wonder how many subscribers here have never seen a kangaroo in the wild. From my own experience, 'roos are not all that common. I was brought up on a sheep farm on the Darling Downs (Qld), where sighting were very rare. Dad's car didn't even have a 'roo-bar. The closest I ever got to one in my life was on a visit "home" many years later at my brother's house in Buderim - a small town north of Brisbane - where two or three were cantering around in the gully next door.

Here in the ACT there's lots. Though currently we don't see so many since the cull.

I worked on a road construction site office in Queensland, just outside Caboolture. Kangaroos used to roam about the aerodrome field next door - hundreds of them.

Here in the Blue Mountains, I've seen a fair few crossing our local road. Still a special sight that I can't get used to.

Koalas though.. I'd love to see a koala in the wild.

Drive across the Nullabor at night and you'll never want to see another roo in your life.
