Fair enough

The Racial Discrimination Act which has been around probably a little bit longer than the time people have been obsessed with the term 'PC brigade' covers acts which are done because of the race, colour or national or ethnic origin of the other person or some or all of the people in the group.

As a pedant I'm not sure it is the same. I thinking mixing the two in together cheapens the word racist and waters it down for real racism + includes things that are not racist at all. Just because the act was written that way does not make it racism in worldwide common parlance - just in legal shorthand in some particular acts.

Very well said and I agree with you

Apparently us immigrants think we can come to australia and take over the place. So there ya go.

Not sure what he meant really, apart from his prime minister is welsh and his head of state is English.

He/she obviously hasn't lived and worked in London.

If they said that to me, I'd simply tell them that there are so many Australians in London that they are stealing jobs from the Saffers & Kiwis and taking over the place.

Just to be clear...I wasn't suggesting the example given by the OP was 'racist'.

What I was commenting on was the oft used BE retort of '<insert nationality> is not a race'. And what I'm saying is if someone hates someone else just because they're Indian OR they hate all South Asians there's really no difference.

i was up the road but my wife saw it and had a go at him for driving like an idiot

he then tells her to fook off back to dandenong

i had to have a double take as i thought he had said back to England

dandenong....... we have the most common cockney accents going

actually gave me a giggle that

The guy may have been referring to the time when Dandenong was mainly settled by 10 pound poms as was Frankston.

You sure know how to pick your threads ;) From memory that retort is almost always used when the two people in question are the same race.
