Xmas adverts/programmes of old...

Dunno about you lot but there was always one advert that made me feel all Christmassy and that was the Coke one where there was a big truck with lights on and the song was "holidays are coming, the holidays are coming..."

The programme has to be Morcambe and Wise Xmas Special. :D

What was your fave ad/programme at Christmas time?

Watching the film, Miracle on 34th Street. The original from 1947 is fab, as I love old movies, but it was done again in 1994, which is the one my children love (though I do want to take the little girl star in it to speech therapy).

(It was also done in '59 and '73)

Just bought a double dvd in the supermarket with the old and the new. Settled the kids in front of the old one to "it's got no colour", never heard of black and white and they would not watch it. Philistines, the original's the best.

The coke ad was the one that first sprang to mind but the old QC ones came to mind the other day.

Sound of Music and White Christmas were the other classics.

Why not, they even sell them in the IGA in Warrandyte and I know I've seen them in the major supermarkets.

I'll just show my age here, but before BT, the phones used to be run by the post office, and every christmas there was a number kids could ring every day to hear Santas updates on the run up to christmas.

I don't think they had 'premium' numbers in those days, so it was just an ordinary phone call. But that was what the build up to christmas was about for me, hearing what Santa was up to each day. And then on Christmas eve, he'd be calling as he left on his sleigh... ahhh...the memories :)

TV programme? This'll sound weird as well, but 'Ski Sunday' always got me in a Christmas mood. Snow, sleighbells, cow bells, and nutters throwing themselves down mountains at 200Kmh, well it made me feel all chrismassy.
