Combine that with living in an unemployment black spot, during one of the worse downturns for many a long year and I don't think his expectations, at aged 55, are that unrealistic. He might find work, but statistics suggest that his chance of finding work, at a similar salary, appear to be close to nil.

None of my business but... In the trailer park I remember a comment... English water is superior to American water. Now I can't speak of the quality of English water, there are thousands of sources in America. From the Hudson river in New York (yuck) to Pristine mountain streams. Sweeping generalization.
Australia is shit.

Well, unless you have particular skills that are in demand, I would suggest that should you lose you job in a few years time, that you would suddenly become "over qualified" for jobs. In other words "too old".

I would get in my car and drive any place in the UK that i thought i could have a sniff of a job. If i didn't want to relocate the family i would work away until such times as i could find work locally again. I can assure you that unless i am physically unable i would find a job.

My comment was actually in humour. There have been some seriously ridiculous statements made over the years. I also tend to ignore the more pointless comments. In Vash's case I did but in your case I didn't.

In saying that I remember having to tie a mates shoe laces after games because it was the first time he had actually had laces in his shoes.1975.
My mam worked at the co op at the end of that street.

The loss of Mathers, along with all the jobs that went around Bradford Pit, really kicked the legs out from under the area. It wasn't great before, but that really sent it into a downward spiral. Did you know that BAe Chadderton has all gone now?
