AFL are there any rules ?
Wot do you think and does it make a good replacement for real football ?

The fact that AFL has been around for years and failed to take off in any other country speaks volumes. Even American Football (which is a bunch of arse) has been given a decent go in countries outside of the US of A.

If Australia can have a decent run at the World Cup (just qualifying from their group will be enough), then the A League should benefit from the increased interest in football. Also Australian club sides will be able to compete in the Asian League for winning and coming runner up in the A League this season. I think the second season of A League is going to be interesting and I am planning to go and watch Melbourne Victory against Sydney FC at the Telstra Dome.

The last time I went to Telstra was to watch an AFL game (Hawthorn vs Kangaroos). It was basically over by half time and the most interesting thing about the game was the "guess the ingredients in the pie" game, were you try and guess which ingredient makes the pie smell and taste like eating cheesy socks. It would have been cheaper and less painful to stay at home and stick pins in my eyes. It is not even a decent replacement for a game of rugby, let alone "real" football.
