But everyone's expectations of living are different - Brisbane is a fantastic place to bring up a family. The weather's great, it's on the east coast of Australia so closer to the action, but still has a smaller town feel like the West Coast. Schooling is good, sporting and cultural facilities are good, a lot of people would feel lucky to live in such a great city.

I must confess I am considering a game plan to leave Brisbane. Since I don't have kids and don't play much sport I seem to be left with a city with third world communications, a transport system which is a joke and everything closing at 9pm.
Let's not mention the cost of living, comparative cost of cars, food, clothing, books and just about everything - that just depresses me somewhat.

Not having - nor ever intending ot have - a fmily to bring up, I can't comment on that, and I know a lot of people do love Brisbane. Unfortunately I'm not one of them. I'm quite glad at the moment I'm working so many hours it doesn't matter what ciry I'm in as I don't have time to see it
