Work dilema.........
 

Yes i realise the spelling has gone to pot before i start

But tis Friday night :rofl:


Ok i here it is

I work 1 full day and 1 half day a week....Tues and Thurs.....

I love my job

I work 1-1 with a special needs boy who is lovely, i work with supportive lovely people but....


i have been told to apply for a job at the special ed unit (on site but separate school) this job is for .8 which is 4 whole days or the equivilent.

I would love to do this as i plan to specialise in Special needs with my degree that i am doing (in my spare time, whilst bringing up my own kids and keeping house etc etc lol)


so do i go for the new job and let down the people i work with now or what???

oh i would also jump a whole grade in pay :eek: and with the interest rates etc the way they are!!! money speaks.....

but at the moment i have 3 whole days to study degree


oh decisions decisions!!!!



if i go for the new job i will be putting myself back to where i was in UK

working 4 days a week, trying to study and do everything else in the other one :eek:


do i want to do that again :confused:

How badly do you need the money?

If not that badly don't do it you came to Oz to get away from stress and have more time with your family, so why leap straight back into the same situation.
You enjoy your job you have time to study and time for your family.:thumbup:

I'm doing a degree, two kids and work one day a week. I don't think I could do the degree and work four days a week (plus kids, house etc). I know people do but I don't know how the hell they do it!! Something would have to give and it's usually family time, helping kids with homework, making sure everyone gets healthy food instead of convenience stuff, that kind of thing.

If it was short term, say a year, before you finished your degree and career wise it was a good move for you and tied in with your degree, then it could be worth considering. Other than that, sounds a bit too hard basket (but then I prefer the easy life lol!) ;)

Hard decisions Sam, sounds as if you're totally torn. Thing is could you cope with all the other things you have to do if you work these extra days without knackering yourself?

How much longer will your degree take? Is it going to be a long while or is the end in sight?

How do you feel at the thought of the taking on a new job?

Money aside, and also put aside thoughts of letting the people down that you are working with now, what would bring you most happiness at work?

If we can be happy at work, and if that work takes up a lot of our waking hours then surely this is what we should be aiming for.

If we are happy then we tend to put a lot more in and therefore get a lot more out.

Good luck with what you decide, but make the decision for you and not for others.

Well.....

Money.... it all comes in handy i can say... plans and that!!!! (ssshhhh!!)

Yes i did come to Oz to get away from all that but......... i find my life lacking! :eek:


I worked full time (term time only) but also completed 2 years of my degree at the same time, as well as run the house etc etc etc
Not boasting just stating facts, OH has been brought up that he brings home the money and thats that! :eek:, i cook, clean, sort out bills etc etc etc, he will taxi for the girls now we are over here, but only because i dont give him a choice!

I really dont know!!!

I thrive on stress (bizzare i know) but i find i'm lacking something with all this spare time that i havent had in 8 years! :eek:

I wonder if i need to put myself under the pressure of working 4 days and study etc etc again to feel.............me again (if that makes sense at all):confused:

Not long in from a kids birthday party. Couldnt drink as driving so its catch up on friday -nite..
As for job think beyond tomorrow.ie.Think long term

Is there anyway you can ask to do reduced hours in the new job until you finish the degree??? - Or job share???

I studied for my Masters part time. As I had to fund myself, the idea was to get a job part time to pay for the course. As it turned out, the part time job I got, (in the voluntary sector) was very demanding - time wise and emotionally. It turned from a 21 hour a week job into a full time job. Often I would be away at conferences and miss lectures, out in the evening at meetings, so course work wouldn't be done etc.

In the end I decided to have a 'year out' of the Masters to save the money up to do the final year. Guess what - in the end, I never went back for the final year. It is very easy to get engrossed in a job which is worthwhile and not be able to meet other commitments.

I'm sure you will go with your gut instinct and maybe you are a better juggler than I was... good luck - hope everything works out for you.:thumbsup:
