After much convincing , I have finally started watching the movie Withnail and I - t'is one of my OH's favourite movies.
However, have just got about a 1/4 of the way through and it turns out the dvd has a big scratch in it and won't play any further ......
Has anyone seen it all the way through?, is it worth now going and either renting or buying a new dvd just to see what happens?
I apoligise in advance for the dullness of this thread.

Ok good, so far I have found it to be quite amusing, so many movies turn out crap towards the end that I couldnt be arsed buying it if it was gonna be turn out that way.

BRILLIANT film! The two protagonists eschew any type of work, have questionable hygiene, are fond of extravagantly large joints and will drink anything, whether it kills them or not. A lot like myself really.

A few interesting Withnail facts (interesting, that is, if you are interested in such things):
- It was the director Bruce Robinson's first feature film
- Richard E Grant (Withnail) was (and is) tea-total, Bruce Robinson got him drunk one night so he would 'remember' what it was like
- When Withnail drinks from the lighter fluid can it actually IS lighter fluid, Bruce Robinson wanted a 'true' reaction so he didn't tell him
- The film was based on the earlier experiences of Bruce Robinson and his drunken/drugged flatmates

Great Film. One of my faves too.
Monty:
Do you grow?
Withnail:
Geraniums.
Monty:
Oh you little traitors. I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating
than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially
tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is you'll agree a certain je ne
ses quoi oh so very special about a firm young carrot. Excuse me. Do
help yourselves to another drink.
