The Wiggles

We went to see the Wiggles on Sunday at Hammersmith Apollo.

Wow the kids were groving on down and there was no loutish behaviour!
The poor old Wiggles looked a bit knackered though..I can see that after 21 years it must be a strain on the body (they do lots of acrobatic stuff as part of their act).

However at the end when Greg announced their retirement at the end of 2012, there was much weeping and wailing and nashing of teeth from the under 5s. Our little one was pretty devastated and kept asking if that was the last she would see them.

Will the replacement line up be able to carry it off?

Given that I recall taking our three (now 18, 17 & 15) somewhere down the M3 (Basingstoke?) many moons ago to see them, one does wonder how they have kept going for so long.

Don't see why not. Give it a few months and the small ones won't remember the old ones at all, no one stressed when the yellow one went off sick for a couple of years and the ones taking over have all been in the shows for a few years anyway. Out of interest, how on earth does a child under 5 understand the concept of December 2012, let alone retirement, enough to get that upset

well I think it was ' this is the last time we will see you' that the older ones caught and it set others off. Most of them probably forgot by the time they were on the tube!
(Although my daughter is very smitten with Jeff and has been since she was 3...interesting what they do remember!)

One of them is hanging on with the new ones, no idea who any of them are though so I don't know which one it is.

I think it's Anthony.

I think they were due to retire, looking at Jeff's heart issue and all. I'm not too impressed with the whole, "fire Sam, lousy employee" thing and the argument that it was to bring Greg back only to announce retirement a few months later. Just badly done and it's a sure way to end their career on a sour note.

I feel bad that the one remaining Wiggles fan in the family won't get to see them live, but then I've given them enough of our money over the years.

He's the main man business-wise so it's hardly surprising he's clinging on.

I guess Jeff had to go ... 10,000 toddlers cyring "Wake up Jeff!" to a corpse wouldn't be a good look.

My boys HATED the wiggles, so they would have loved that bit:rofl:

When the youngest started pre school he got the most annoying teacher, who obviously loved them and used to do loads of wiggle stuff.

He walked out the classroom on the first day, told her he was going to read a book, and would come back when the 'stupid bit' was over:rofl:
