Why do tiles fall off roof's ?

Had tenants in my house for a few weeks now, nowt happened for nine years while i was there. Few weeks in and there's two bloody tiles off the roof.

Do they fall off on their own, and if so, why?

Wind can often lift tiles, also if your in a coastal area the salt will eventually corrode the nails holding them on. A more simple reason could be that your tenants have been on the roof for reasons unknown & simple busted the tiles.

Well apparently it hasn't been very windy and my house is 20 miles from the sea.

Strange one

Roof tiles are notorious for falling off

Basically, although they are undoubtably very useful, they are prone to bouts of self doubt, of depression ... they can loose the will to live, loose their sense of indentity... Loose thier grip on things

For your roof tiles to remain in place its important to spend some time supporting them and reminding them that they hold a very special place in your heart

, why not go out side right now and give them a rousing and uplifting speech... encourage them, tell them how much they mean to you... make them feel valued

you could write a poem and read it to them, compose a song, it doesn't really matter how you do it... If you want your roof tiles to stay.. SHOW THEM YOU LOVE THEM:wub:

Gravity...;)

Seriously though, looking at the neighbor's tile roof, I can see a bunch of cracked and loose ones...can't imagine they'd stay on forever once they need repair.

you wont find many roof tiles that have been nailed on in Australia, for some reason they only nail about one in six or none at all

most common reason i can think of for damaged tiles is someone has been on the roof: foxtel, ariel, gutter cleaning, new phone line,
