It is easier to contact lots of people at once to share things like photos and things;)

I can tell you by pm if you want but why dont you just block her?

I'm NOR in Perth. I would block her, but my in-laws already think I'm the devil incarnate, so blocking one of them would be akin to me putting a dagger through their collective hearts.

There's too many of the family on there, both sides - like I said, if I wanted to talk to them, I'll call them.

You could always use a different identity and contact the people you want to reach on there and your inlaws will be none the wiser;)

I just ignore them - 'who has a crush on you' etc, I cannot be bothered to go through the 344 notifications on it.

I have people on limited profiles so family and work stuff can be kept apart. My Facebook rules are simple, if people do not like what they see or read on there then they can delete me as a friend. I do not and will not justify what I write, or piccies/videos I post - to my family or anyone.

My Facebook, my choice to allow people to see it and I decide who to ignore/block.

Ive had loads of spamming on there as well.

Thanks hon :) I don't read all my notifications either but that can be a problem as I just realised I had some birthday cards / messages from friends and they must have thought I was ungrateful / ignoring them when I didn't respond.... Oops....

I expect it's cos you don't like all the applications my old man had it and hated all the hearts and flowers stuff, mainly cos an ex school friend bombarded him with it all, he deleted his account before I could show him how to switch it all off:rolleyes:

I choose not to put my details on public display - I don't see the point.

That's just it, you don't have to be public. I have made it impossible for me to be found in a facebook search.

My Dad loves seeing our piccies and video messages - you can decide who sees what.

The privacy controls are good. I suppose for some of us, it is a nice way to keep in touch with certain people.:)

Re: whose on facebook?

I've just had my account cancelled because honestly I found it boring. A nudge, wink or a picture of a bottle of beer does absolutely nothing for me. I write to friends/relatives with news and ask them a question or two, they seem to be totally confused unless they can press a button to reply to me, most of the time I get no response or just the word OK. Perhaps I'm a boring old phart but I do prefer to have a real conversation/discussion with people. If I sent the same people this posting they'd respond with "Yes" or "OK" because they've lost the ability to compose a simple straight forward sentence. I see young people on public transport and in public places, they seem to communicate with grunts and facial expressions, if this carries on humans will lose language as we know it.
