Re: whose the biggest ping ponger?
Some of it ping pong, some not.
Started in '89 on a WHV, due to exceptional skills was asked to stay but global events meant it easier to apply from the UK at the time. So i went: OZ-UK-OZ-US (secondement)-OZ-UK-NZ(secondment)-OZ-Colombia-OZ-Korea-UK-OZ-UK-OZ(briefly) -UK currently but will be Oz again at some point. So I can't say it's all been ping ponging but the gravitational pull has always been back to Sydney. I/we have definitely lived a life less ordinary but figuring out my pension is like herding cats:lol: |
Re: whose the biggest ping ponger?
Not the biggest here but -
Hopefully that will be it for us, stressful enough relocating overseas once let alone going through it all twice! Wouldn't change a thing though, it has never been boring and we see it all as being an adventure. |

I have little recollection of the one in the 80s. The ones in the 90s were very mobile. I was single, free, and only moved what I needed. The one in 2010 was made easy as my company sorted everything out for us.
I wouldn't like to be a ping pong'er with kids, pheewwww! It makes me sweat just thinking about it! |

Re: whose the biggest ping ponger?
So glad I read this, I am getting those wanderlust feelings again.
We emigrated to NZ in 2005 came back in 2006. Hubby and two kids at the time. We now have three, 18 15 and 5. We came back because of me, I hated it, I got really homesick and fell pretty ill. The feelings of guilt leaving my mum and dad and my sister and brother were immense, I hardy see my sister and brother now. My mum and dad are now 74 and not in the greatest of health. My hubby is 50 in Nov 2015 and I keep thinking this may be our last shot at trying again. My dad would tell me to jump on a plane as he says we should have stayed in NZ. I keep thinking Aus might be better as we have kids going to Uni etc. And we have some family and friends there but we also did in NZ. Part of me wants to pack and go now and part think what the hell are you thinking. When I told my hubby my thoughts the other night his eyes lit up as he loved living in NZ. Has anyone ping pomed and dealt with homesickness differently. My old user was Jo-b, I remember Northern Bird as we were the early adopters of the forum I think back then. |
