Not been too good with my asthma, awake most nights, tired in the day that sort of thing. Think its the weather plus a bit of London pollution.

No news on the visa front.

My friend has been over the weekend so that was fab. Took my mind of things a bit.

Not worth moving Im afraid, too costly, will need new jobs etc.

We are going to Brighton for a couple of days again soon.

Its hard because in the day, I am so very tired its not true, then at night I cant sleep because of asthma.

GP reckons loads of normally controlled asthmatics are having shit loads of problems this season.

I cant take steroids either, sometimes they prescribe them and I cant tolerate them, so just have to put up with it.

With the visa, we have resigned ourselves that there is nothing we can do and it will be early next year now.

Must admit, Im alot calmer about it and am just getting on with life now, or trying to.

Doesnt help that I work for a dry vagina bitch who goes through staff like ladies go through underwear.

Pays the bills though.

Bollocks! I do feel for you, my OH has mild asthma and she has coughing fits that last for ages, but thankfully they are very infrequent!
Your boss sounds like she could do with some KY warming jelly!!!!

Sorry to here that PP

My asthma (touch wood) has improved so much since arriving here - I am stunned.

I came on the flight with my portable nebuliser, and was a frequent visitor to the A&E each spring summer in the UK, due to severe/chronic attacks of asthma.

I have suffered with asthma since a child but got worse as I grew up - however since arriving in Oz, my nebuliser has been stored under the bed and not been used once! I have also cut donw my medication and hardly ever use my ventolin inhaler. I used to go through 1 ventolin in 28 days in the UK now it is about 4 ventolins a year.

I say a prayer that you too will find some relief from the curse of asthma.

Sarah

PP have you tried a leukotriene antagonist like montelukast?

Me thinks that your asthma needs reviewing - it should be controllable, even without steroids.

I tried it many years ago, didnt make any difference.

I refuse to take steroids anyway now.

Dont see why I should trade asthma for the other conditions that preds can cause

Im not under a specialist anyway, cant see myself being referred either.

I do get 'hormonal' asthma, use to see someone at the Brompton for it many years ago. Always gets worse two weeks before period. Some of the junior doctors never believed it existed, until I saw some professor who backed it up.

Interestingly enough, now Ive come on, my symptoms have gone.

I'm older than you (was 40 in January). But I'm an Aussie citizen and didn't need a visa so that wasn't an issue. Hubby is 39 and got his spouse visa last year.

There seem to be a lot of people in their late 30s/early 40s who regularly post on here so that may be an indication of the average age!???
