Where would you live?

If you have the choice to live permanently in the following countries, which one would be your no. 1 choice and why? There are no criteria to follow.

Australia
Canada
New Zealand
USA

Well I would guess asking this on an Aussie Forum ( this part anyway ) you may get biased answers.

Im aware that migration to Canada from uk is very protracted.

For some reason New Zealand, always comes in 2nd place. To Australia, I havent been so know not why.

USA is well ... nice place to visit, but sit still for too long and you either get raped, mugged, shot, or eaten by some fat bastard in a Macdonals queue.

Re: Where would you live?

I'd live in the place where we have a good income, a decent standard of living, a nice house+neighbourhood, my child isn't a minority at school, and there is good access to the great outdoors, and my family is happy and healthy.

So I guess I'm saying it's not the country per se, it's the geo-socio-economic circs at any particular location and period of time.

That was very funny and most of the things you listed are true too.

You are absolutely right and that is the kind of place I am trying to find. I am looking for a place where I can make a decent salary and we can have a decent living standard and people would not look at us differently because we are not white or black and we have accents when we speak English. Thanks.

If I had the finances to do so, I would like to spend 6 months in Namibia (voluntary work on safari) and 6 months in Australia.

:)

I spent 3 months in Namibia (as an over-25 staff volunteer) with this lot www.raleighinternational.org not sure if they still go to Namibia, but worth a look

We seem to have found it in a small town in the Upper North Shore, about 35kms out of Sydney.

PM me if you want more info.....

Re: Where would you live?

Our standard of living and quality of life is heaps better than it was in New Zealand. Migrants are better tolerated here: you'll be accepted more for your professional abilities and less discriminated against for your ethnic background.

Working practices here are much more akin to how they'd be in the UK/USA and you won't have to unlearn everything you accepted as normal, efficient or productive, unlike in NZ. There you have to learn the "Kiwi Way" which has to be experienced to be believed :D many people far better than I have described it and I won't attempt to do it here.

The climate and countryside here is fantastic - 2 months of humidity at the height of summer but great for the rest of the year. It was 27 degrees today but it didn't feel overly hot. We spent most of the day walking in Springbrook high up in the forests where it was 19 in the deep shade, then back down to the beach for the late afternoon, a spell of body boarding and home for tea.

Re: Where would you live?

Probably New Zealand if the weather was as nice as the N/E coast of OZ all year round.

Strangely enough, I'd live where I live. Freeeeeeky!;)

Australia Chose to live here, so guess this is #1
Canada Spent the first 43 years of my life here, so been there, done that and have the accent.
New Zealand Not enough work for my old man and full of sheep shaggers
USA Full of Americans. Nuff said

Strangely, like someone else said, this is the Australia section of an immigrants website, so I would assume Australia would win for the majority here.
