Eureka Tower, Melbourne, Australia by Chris&Steve, on Flickr

I like both the Flatiron and Chrysler buildings above for overseas candidates...
Eureka's kinda ugly really...looks terrible from some angles. It does really cool light tricks on half foggy / half sunny mornings though.

I must have caught it on a good day I like how it portrays the eureka story of the gold fields even down to the blood shed in the battle...more buildings should tell a story. That glass box thing was fun as well. I know what you mean it can look awkward depending on the angle...

I live in Perth, so no skyscrapers here.

But, I've always liked Toronto's City Hall

and Mississauga's "Marilyn Monroe" buildings are kind of funky.

I think The Shard actually adds to the London skyline, draws attention to London Bridge, St Pauls etc. A million times better than the ghastly 60/70/80s boxes that have been put up. The original Paternoster Square springs to mind along with many others.

It features in an advert (which also sees a young Alan Shearer in his first acting role pre-MOTD - not a lot of people know that).

Ahaaa looked it up. Over the top of London Bridge Station.

Boy London has changed since I left. Canary wharf, the docklands precinct, O2... that footbridge the London Eye and all those new transport links.

Now this thing, I'd have to see it in person to make up my mind. I feel very distant from my past now. I've got a few cousins that live within distance still around Bermondsey and the Elephant.

Here's my favourite, because of what it means to me. It represents my Childhood, family and the formative me. When It used to appear from a distant place on The Skyline it meant I was close to home.

I've always had a soft spot for this one:

not for any aesthetic reasons, but because I remember fondly stumbling out of the pub one night back in the early 90s with a bunch of mates and noticing a mildly orange glow emanating for one window. Within half an hour there were three floors totally engulfed in flames and an absolute army of fire trucks... Fantastic entertainment to accompany our post-pub kebabs. It was our very own 'towering inferno'.

Prizes for anyone guessing where... Extra points for naming the building
