Yesterday in the UK I paid £1.14.9 for a litre of unleaded petrol. Deisel was £1.24 a litre. It cost me £67 to fill up my VW passat car. :curse:

How much is it in Oz? No doubt most people will reply in aussy money, so if anyone knows off hand what that converts to in pounds can they let me know.

In perth $1.50 which is 0.73 pounds

In Brisbane:

ULP is $1.35 ~ 64p
Diesel is $1.55 ~ 75p

ULP has been as high as $1.42 and as low as $1.25 in recent weeks - it fluctuates quite a bit! But also, fuel is always cheaper on a Tuesday (no, I don't know why ) so that $1.35 will be $1.28 or so in a couple of days, then head up towards $1.40 on Thursday & Friday, then settle back to $1.35 on the weekend. Go figure.

o and whilst $1.35 / 64p looks cheap remember that the wages are a lot lower here making it more comparble with £1.35 ltr

Possibly better off arguing that cars are smaller in the UK, therefore the running costs are about equal.

Beleive it or not the Average wage in Aussie is now higher than the average across the board wage in the UK.... Running at about 70,000 Aud per annum... Thats what the stats say... circa 33,000 quid. (bet i'm going to regret saying this lol)

Tell you what the whole of the postal service here gets more than our UK counterparts. Full time 5 year incremented posties now average over 60,000 aud.

a sparkie working for a firm makes between 55-62 i`d say that this was nearer the average ??

Last I saw it was about $57K with males at $61K and females about $53K.

Petrol hovering around the $1.50 mark at the moment but with huge variations come government pay day when it can rise as much as 10c a litre as you are in the process of filling up according to some people!

Be careful to not confuse 'average' with 'median'.
Median tends to be a more realistic representative than average (or mean).
