What's the most underrated place in Australia
following on from the other thread, I thought this might add some balance.
Where have you been that isn't normally in the top "must see" places on the tourist brochures that you really liked?
I can't think of anything right now, but I am sure one will spring to mind soon

Orange - as a town is really nice.
Mittagong - ditto
Tumut (sp) - in the snowy mountains. I got a real silent hill/alan wake vibe in this town (in a good way) I imagine with snow in the winter thsi place is beatiful
Millthorpe - the prettiest Victorian village you've never neard of
Central Tilba - awesome looking place

Probably the entire Illawarra. The 'Gong itself is no great shakes but all the rest of the coast is pretty attractive to look at, if that sort of thing floats your boat.

Darwin in the wet season - amazing storm watching
Gove/Nhulunbuy - dolphins in such abundance we petted them off the back of the boat.
The Kimberley - shame not everyone makes it up there. Beautiful.

Lightning Ridge! And Millthorpe is near Orange, which is not in Victoria.....or did you mean Victorian as in the era?
Oh and Murray's Beach. Great snorkelling. And Dolphins.
