Default Whats the longest legal proceedings you have been involved in.

We are now into our 38th month, of trying to get a 100 year old(e) + Easement sorted by the side of our house, under adverse possession. It was an old lane, (definitely no sewer) they couldnt find the original owners, then the Council claimed it when they realised it was up for grabs... tried to charge us 60,000 dollars for it... Then we asked them to prove ownership, which they couldnt. So they finally left it alone. About 15 Stat Decs later and lots of too-ing and fro-ing to the solicitors. the light is at the end of the tunnel. The reason we need the Easement is so our house becomes truly double fronted (instead of 3/4's) and we can knock down our old, in need of major renovations house and put up two spanking state of the art 25 Square side by side Townhouses. Selling one for the price of the building both.

It's been wearying, frustrating and basically just about killed our Enthusiasm for the project... still looks like it is finally happening.

God knows how much the Solicitor is going to charge us.

So anyone had legals go on for more than 38 months ?

Next thing building permits LOL !!

That's nothing mate. I started building a bloody wall across my back garden 1900 years ago and I'm still arguing with the Scots over the fence about it.

Here in the US I have one property with an abandoned rear alley, with similiar issues. My approach was to establish an obvious pattern of use over the prescribed time requirement, in order to file for adverse possession.

Here is how it works in Arizona at least.

A big group of us took on a double glazing company. It took about four years for them to cave in and admit wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, the general contractor and his crew are becoming impatient.
