Whats the longest distance you have driven for one single event.

Simple question whats the longest distance you have driven for one single reason.

For me I think it would have been the Melbourne Victory v Adelaide Game in Adelaide two seasons back...

A round trip of around 1900 K's in one weekend. Was worth it though

Do holidays count? We drive to the west coast of Ireland every year from Notts (or rather I do most of it cos I hate being a passenger) and when I was 8 months pregnant with the boy, drove from mid-Lincs to Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness, circa 800kms one way and took over 12 hours due to various motorway closures:eek:

ROMFT regularly travels 900km (round trip) at the weekend to come home:wub:

Does it have to be a drive?

I once flew from Singapore to Budapest (via Amsterdam) for a George Michael concert. I don't even like his music.

I drove in one go from Melbourne to Port Macquarie about 5 years back circa 1283 Kilometers.... I wasn't counting holidays because of the couple of weeks rest period inbetween.

I've know a lot of people fly back from Aus to London just for football games.... Palace fans for the play off final and Blackpool fans for the same reason.

Blimey...these are some long weekend trips.

I've done a round trip up and back to Maine for a x-mas dinner, a smidge under 600 miles...and a day trip down and back to PA for the missus college reunion, that was a smidge over 600 miles

700 kms round trip for new trainers/glasses.

Regularly 550 kms round trip for grocery shopping.

During summer 400 kms one way to get to our favourite campsite - spend 3 glorious days boating and relaxing and then obviously the 400 kms back.

Annual camping trips are to the heat so involve regular days of 900 + kms (per day) with a couple of days closer to 1200 kms. Around 10,000 kms clocked for the three week trip away. OH always drives - he hates being passenger.

Hence we have a lovely, comfy car. And the boys are great travellers ;)

I flew over 16,500km for a wedding.

I think it was worth it.

Driving ... Hmmm, it wasn't one event but I did a trip around the coastline of England, Scotland and Wales once. In a convertable ... Happy days.

The furthest for one event is probably from London to Le Mans a few times.

We used to drive down from Warrington/N.Wales to Lagos on the Algarve every other year - around 1700miles each way. Admittedly we would take three days each way and although it was a trek, viewed it as part of the holiday.

Furthest in one day (apart from my solo drive down from Bribie Island to Blue Mountains when we moved interstate - about 1100km) was when Himself was moving in with me. Folkestone - York - Folkestone in one day, in a white transit van and I'm fairly sure we hit rush hour both ways on the M25 :D

That was about 550miles.

I've done a few madcap drives:
When we were at a loose end a few years ago we drove down to Sydney on our first road trip 2200 k's Caught up with a mate I hadn't seen for a few years.
We drove from Gympie to Rockhampton for lunch last year a 950k round-trip. To be fair it was a great steak. Three of us did the Criterion Hotel's 1 kilo steak challenge, our fourth companion wimped out & had the chicken.
We drove from Gympie to Charleville for a tow-bar, we could have had it freighted for $25 but it seemed like a good idea to pick it up in person. That one was a 1500k round-trip, drove over on the Friday & back on the Saturday.
This Easter we decided to visit our son at his Naval base so we drove from Gympie down to HMAS Cerberus [Crib Point, Vic] We only stopped for fuel & piss breaks, team of three drivers & it took 18 hours to drive down. The return trip was mainly through the night, we set off at 7pm & took us just 17 hours to get home. That was our biggest drive so far just over 4000k door to door.
Next we may do either Gympie to Rockingham, W.A or Gympie to Darwin, N.T

I used to commute from suffolk to North Yorkshire for work, that drive took anything between 3.5 and 8.5 hours depending on traffic.. but that a once a week thing...

My parents flew 12,000 to spend christmas with us... But thats not driving...

I suppose the most fanciful thing I did was drive 100 miles (200 mile round trip) to buy a pound of sausages.... I came home with 14lbs and a pork pie... But the trip was JUST to buy sausages... And that was in the uk!

I took my missus to see Genesis in concert at Old Trafford in 2007, I can still see the look on her face when I told her I had bought tickets. Sydney/Man/Sydney in 5 days - a long trip but well worth it.

Driven Brisbane-Sydney and back for a wedding on a weekend. (2000km with kids!)

..and back in the day I hitch-hiked from Stoke-on-Trent to Amsterdam and back in a long weekend just for giggles (no event as such to attend - just seemed like a good idea at the time).

I drove from just to the South of London to Sunderland and back again in one night for a mid-week match, (Chelsea v Sunderland) and it was in a 997 cc Micra. Chelsea lost which made the long drive home even less enjoyable. Good days though, I only did it because everyone told me it would be a really stupid thing to do
