What no fanfare?!
well, after a slow and quite leisurely visa application...on our side not diac, we have been granted our visas (s.s.176)
however it was all a little anti-climatic! just an ordinary email saying we'd been granted visas, no loud fan fare played as we opened the email, no balloons or champagne delivered to our door to welcome us to the visa granted gang....i was therefore required to do a high kick jig and some joyful screaming to let the family know :D Wonder if theres a business opportunity there somewhere to team up with diac and hand deliver joyous news with a little razzmatazz? Anyway, so now we need to make a decision about moving. We are in the lucky position of having sold our house earlier this year so we're living in a rental, my only point of hesitation is this.....do we stay here for a while and work to get more money together (husband is off shore as a sparkie currently) or do we just go with what we've got? We always thought we'd just go straight away but now the visa's here i think we're both scared of giving up a decent career for the unknown! Lou. p.s..good luck to those still waiting for visa decisions x |
Re: What no fanfare?!
Congratulations!
We arrived in Adelaide 2yrs ago, we were expecting a band and bunting:D After we'd waited in line for over an hour the immigration man held his hand out, I shook it! He didnt even raise a tiny smile, as he said "no, I want your passport"! What a welcome to Australia eh? donna |

Congratulations.
I remember the email being so ordinary that I was unsure that we'd actually got it. The validation was pretty uneventful as well. No more fuss than coming in for a holiday. The immigration lady did say "Welcome to Australia" in a nice way though |
