Having a shower this morning and looking out the window saw a Wedge-tailed Eagle soaring just above the trees (the way our house is situated means that from the top floor you look out over the tree canopy)

It was hardly having to flap it's wings as it was catching so many thermals

A beautiful sight

They are indeed, one of my favourite types of wildlife

They are quite common around here and are easy to spot as they are so big (apparently one of the largest BOP in the world)

From our house we regularly see Sea Eagles, Ospreys, Brahminy Kites, Whistling Kites, Peregrine falcons and Hobbies as they hunt and scavenge over the inter tidal zone.

Often just a few feet above the house

I'm not sure if this should actually go in the smile thread, or maybe we should have a new thread titled ' Weird happenings thread' lol, anyway, here we go.....

I was just chilling in the sun yesterday in the garden, house hunting on line, minding my own business, deep in thought when something fell on me from the sky, I looked to see what it was, and it was a bloody massive spider! Jesus Christ, I've never moved as fast! There was no trees around me, or anything it could've fallen from, I presume a birds mouth? Anyway, it didn't make me smile as such but certainly made my son laugh! ( the little shit! ) Lol

Today a dog came into work and made straight for the meat department - clearly a dog on a mission! I presumed that she was sick of her owner's choice of foods and fancied a nice bit of steak! I had to take the dog out and wait with it whilst we called it's owner who was unaware that his dog had gone walkabout. It was funny though as we thought we'd solved his problem until he asked the dog "now where's your brother?" - d'oh! Hopefully he'll get him back as the one we had was registered, tagged and apparently microchipped so presumably the same would go for his wandering bro.

It was a nice interlude in an otherwise hectic day.

Having chile and garlic prawns and a glass of merlot on the balcony with my 13 year old son. We're the only two home and enjoying a great chin wag after a week apart.
