On my first weekend as a copper I got called to a fight at a wedding reception. When I arrived, wifey (complete with wedding dress) was walking off down the road with her two young children; the guests inside - including the parents of the bride and groom - had divided into two groups, and were at it hammer and tongs, jackets off.

The food looked nice though so I grabbed a sandwich while they calmed down a bit.

I was to meet most of the combatants regulary in the future, violence just being part of their lives and what they expected.
