What do you do that your parents did, but thought you never would

Re: What do you do that your parents did, but thought you never would
Had to explain dogging to a friend of my daughter. We passed some cars parked up on the side of a small road that cuts through bush. Both me and the daughter looked and said 'dogging' at the same time. The friend looked very confused and asked how we know they had dogs.

One of my earliest memories is of my Mum saving string, even bits that were two or three inches long. I don't do that, but I do save those twisty things that are used to keep plastic bags closed. Same principle. Come to think of it, I've never seen those things for sale anywhere. Are they sold in shops, like rubber bands?
No need to pay me.

When the former is taken to the charity shop somehow I manage to come back with more, although different.......

I thought I would never do this, and always cringed when my mother (born 1912) did it. But just the other day I realised that in my dotage it had become a cringe-worthy habit of my own. Scraping the last of the butter/margarine off the "greaseproof" wrapper it's sold in! Please will somebody tell me I'm not alone?

In Canberra we have a Green Shed which is a place where you can drop off your junk and browse through and buy other peoples. Amazing the stuff you can get there, some real treasure to be found

It's always rewarding when a repair or innovation can be achieved without having to buy anything from Bunnings.

This really pisses me off as I have always been a healthy bloke but..... I now have one of those plastic boxes with 28 little compartments in for managing my daily pills. I can't believe I use one of these, but there it is. I'm doomed to be a grumpy old man.

I hear you brother. I hate the way my joins stiffen up if I sit down for more the 20 minutes - and feel it when I stand up - and the way age slows you down
Yep, grumpy it's going to be

Shit, that happens to me too. My joints stiffen up and take at least a few dozen steps for me to gain momentum.

In general I don't think I do much that my parents did - but I find I do now have a pair of 'gardening trousers'. Not I hasten to add because I'm a 'gardener', but because having an old, falling apart pair of jeans that you can get a bit of extra wear out of beats cleaning a good pair if/when they get grass or mud on them. Old trousers/jeans rotate into the roll, prior to going in the bin when the arse actually is hanging out ...

You should join us rebels who refuse to take their pills out of the bottles they came in. If I miss one of the bottles one time, by mistake, that's just too bloody bad! My father used to do the same thing...
