Re: What do I do now?

I am already at the panicking stage. There seems so much to do and I haven't a clue where to start. The tips pages are helpful although I am still uncertain about some things.
I am just taking what we need. Then whatever is left can be sold or given away as the shipping costs are way too expensive for the small amount we have.
WE rent so no house to sell. Have to give one months notice though and get my let bond back. I was wondering whether to get a reference from the landlord stating I was a good tenant??
Also I am unsure whether to just forget trying to open an Aussie bank account from the UK and just do it when I get there?
I need help lol no really I do!
I realise I have to complete a tax form will I get any contributions back you reckon?
I wanna scream!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes.

Yes - people stress about getting all these things done from the UK but it's far easier to do it here - only takes half an hour.

I just haven't a clue where to start, when to go etc. I think this is the hardest part in all honesty after the long wait it is finally here and reality sets in. It's our future and it is very scary but also very exciting at the same time.
I panic about little things and this is a huge thing!

Oh well at least we have until April 2008 to get there! I have tons of things to do so I guess I wont be around as much. Thanks guys xx:thumbup:

Re: What do I do now?

The first thing is to decide when you want to go. I think I remember you said you were in rented so that makes it easier, in that you aren't tied up with having to sell etc.
Do you want to spend a last Christmas in the UK or would you rather be over here and fairly settled for Christmas?
If you are not too bothered when you come over then you could quite easily be here by September (just in time for spring :))
Once you've decided a date then you need to get quotes for removals (if you are taking stuff over) and decide who to go with and book them. You need to sort out flights and book accommodation in Oz.
I know it's stressful but try and chill and not worry too much.
The best piece of advice I could give is to start sorting out your stuff asap. Decide what you are taking with you, what you need to sell and what you will be giving away. I was still sorting out the loft the day the removers were here. Ended up leaving stuff:(
Good luck, it's not a big a job as it seems, it just feels it because you feel you have so much to do. It will get done, write a list and work through it.

By the way your first talking it sounded like you were going in two months! You have plenty of time to do everything! Honestly it may seem like of lot but when it comes to the the jobs don't take very long at all.

The first and most important thing to do is to go and celebrate!

Congratulations!

Thank you. I have written a list but I have to pay off some debts before I go. I am hoping for August but will be no great nightmare if later on in the year. I just dont fancy going in Ozzie summer!
