Default Well done Andy Murray.

Congratulations on your win. The second Scot to win the Wimbledon men's singles title. The first was Harold Mahoney, a long, long time ago, in 1896.

Well done Muzza. A brilliant achievement. Smashed the world no 1 in straight sets, shouldn't be long till he's top dog himself. On a global scale his victory is far more significant than the lions win.

And I have to say I thought Salmond was pretty funny actually. The scots don't get to do too much flag waving in sport so fair play to him. Plus anything that makes Cameron look silly is alright by me

Just watched it on Fox- even though I knew the result!

He won after a British drought of 77 years on 7th/ 7(July) - numerologists make of that what you will.

Won on the 7th, of the 7th, after 77 years. Just numbers but it's all in good fun

Saw his post match interview on TV - thought I saw a glimmer of a smile for the result, but then recognised that I was mistaken - must have been wind............

Based on major titles currently held, he is the number one in the world, he holds Wimbledon, US Open, and Olympic champioships, no other male tennis player holds more than 1.

I'd like to solemnly declare that as a Sassenach, I will not be claiming this one even on behalf of the Union. Go Scotland!!! May ScottishCelts, Bernie etc be proud!

If he'd have lost, he would have been Scottish but he won so he's British!

Screw Andy Murray.

I'm a proud Englishman, so I won't be claiming a foreigner's success. Bring on the Ashes, I say.

We'll be unstoppable now Pietersen is back.

But of course, those numbers don't apply if you count him solely as Scottish- then it is 7/7 and 117 years!!
