I need ARSEistance please

Gotta make 2 driveway gates. each 2m wide x 1.2 or 1.5m high.

This is to go between 2 new brick pillars i built last week.

Mate of mine said, MAKE EM YASELF !!

So.. i reckon i'd ask some welding experts on here....

I aint got a welder, but dont mind buying an el cheapo, based on what it needs to accomplish, what i can convince the wife is worth it, and the fact i may not use it more than twice a year..

Was thinking of using square section or rhs galv steel.

was just gonna make a jig out of some 2.4 x 1.2m mdf, and cut the various pieces and ... well thats kinda where i get stuck...

Any help greatly appreciated, the actual skeletal frame i wanna make will be clad with merbau/kwila slats, probs 80mm wide with a 15-25mm gap horizontally.

So the doors are wooden?

can't you just drill holes for the supports into the pillars, and same for the hinges on the doors and then attach them, why weld anything?

cheers Andy, had looked at these a few weeks ago, and they are cheap on their gear, and not to far, down at the Gabba.

But widest gate they make is 1800mm, i foned them a few weeks back, and they can do wider gates, but the cost spirals madly for some crazy reason.

if you can get the materials down to eagle farm and a bit of a sketch than i can get it done...might take a while tho'.... it's hard trying to conceal a 2m foriegner

Oooer.. now thats an awesome offer.

If your serious, I certainly would be happy to do that, and pay you peanuts .. seriously i am happy to pay, i would only be able to drop off the material uncut, the hinges, and a sketch , proper sketch that is ) But need it doing within a week if possible.

New drive goes in next monday, and have gotta kinda get it sorted for then



I can go past eagle farm anytime, i work southside anyway.

If you cant do it in that time frame, could you give me some advice or pointers, which I'd be more than happy to receive...
