Weird stuff you would like to do or try...

I have this idea walking on hot coals could be interesting.

Anyone done it?

Anything else weird out there that people might give a go?

I haven't done it, but a group of friends did it earlier this year, to raise money for the Stroke Association (my friend's daughter had a stroke in her teens and has kind of become the poster girl for young stroke victims)

Terrible blistering occurred for one person.

I always wanted to swim the English Channel. Then I got too fat and the Russian Trawler Effect was a real risk :)

Ride a motorbike in the Himalayas but I'm unable to ride bikes any more so it would need a miracle.

I once wanted to walk over hot coals. I thought it was just a mind over matter thing. The event that I saw advertised had it as a religious experience so thought, no thanks.

I have it in mind to visit Vietnam and Cambodia one of these days. For holiday not walk over hot coals.

I did the lying down on a bed of nails, and then a 5km walk on embedded spikes (bits of dowel driven through sole of wooden krock type shoe).

Amazing how powerful the mind is.

Walking over hot coals is neither mind over matter nor religious - it's all science, man.

You're right. The trick is to walk slowly and deliberately, not try to run or hop. (Mythbusters taught me that)

What's the science? How does it work?
