We all live in a Parrallel[sic] World..
[Another (sic) post from Badge.]
Can anyone provide an explanation for this.
Some tradesmen seem to do well over here.
Exhibit A : Any 4x4, toy-owning tradie I could care to mention.
Others don't:
Exhibit B : Some British migrants.
Is the difference an ABN, financial planning, career ladder progression, contacts, (brits failing to join at the requisite level)?

Is it as simple as business owning or certain trades or certain sectors?
BTW have you been partaking of a few strong ones?

I'm interested in this also but from a slightly different angle. Some tradies (Australian) 4x4 etc etc some tradies (Australian also) non 4x4.

something to remember is
that when you migrate where ever it is
you join the "new immigrants"
just like all those before you
you start at the bottom and work up
it takes time
some do it quickly
some more slowly
some never at all
that includes...relationships, jobs, social acceptance, housing, knowledge etc,etc
like any time any place any where
LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT
there's going to be set backs and bad days but there's a whole new world and a whole new life to make
make it what you want
that when you migrate where ever it is

Can I ask why, why are your posts written like lists? No cheekiness intended just curious.

Re: We all live in a Parrallel[sic] World..
There's so many variables why people either 'get on' here or they don't. I don't think it's any one thing, but a combination of lots of stuff.
After saying that though, I think it's a lot to do with peoples expectations in life, and how they go about jumping the hurdles to get what they want out of it. Some give in before they've even tried (like my OH would say, they stick their thumbs up their arse)
I once had to post like that, my space bar wouldn't work after Margaret3 made me laugh so much I spilt beer all over the keyboard

Oh, and I agree on there being so many variables.

Re: We all live in a Parrallel[sic] World..
I think its more to do with [some] tradies being cash rich i.e they do a certain amount of cash work and cannot run it through their books. Hence they have lots of toys. I always wondered why the other blokes in the pub knocked off at 2pm & had a couple of hours in the pub when I worked all day and just had a swift one. I know now that the vast majority of them only work for cash pay zero tax & have no insurances or trade guild fees to pay.
I work the last couple of hours each day to pay into Kevin's Coffers therein lies the difference
Some just adapt to the dishonest way of life here quicker than others

Again, boils down to your expectations etc. I live in Badge's parallel word, but my OH works for a company - so no tax dodges there (unless anyone knows of any )
But, I've grown up with next to nothing and I don't consider 'material' things important. I will never be rich (unless I win the lottery). For me all this is about the kids, their future and my here and now - so far these things are going good - anything on top of that is a bonus.
