Re: Vodafone Issues
Oh I'm sure they're all as bad as the other in many respects!
My SIM didn't arrive the day it was supposed to and when The Geek chased them at 4pm all they would say is, it will be delivered between 8am and 5pm. He said, so it's 4pm, what if it doesn't arrive? They said, it will be delivered between 8am and 5pm. Couldn't deviate from the script. It arrived the next day, after he had again chased it. Then he spent most of the evening onto Customer Services as my number didn't port properly after the advised amount of time - at one stage I could make calls and send texts from Telstra, receive calls from a landline, but all inward mobile calls and texts were still going to Vodafone. He told them what he thought needed fixing but he ended up getting transferred to numerous departments before it was eventually fixed the next morning. Then he rang Vodafone and said he wanted a final bill because we'd left. They asked why he wanted to leave ( ) and then looked at my record and said oh, you already have. On a positive note, so far I've had no problems whatsoever so I'm hoping my beloved but ageing HTC is fine and it really was all Vodafone issues. |

I shall go into the Telstra store direct and they can sort out my number/phone then and there I hope. |
Re: Vodafone Issues
I joined Vodafone in June due to Virgin billing me for stuff I did not use. Signal at home is marginal and goes between 3G and Edge. Calls dropout a lot. On the train through Chatswood (where VHA used to be based and there are big towers with their name on) the signal goes all over the place.
At Town Hall I got a good signal but you would hope so considering it is the centre of Sydney. Despite that internet access was awful and latency would swing so wildly at to make surfing on the iPhone impossible. I have voicemails that turn up days later. Where I work I have to walk around the office to get a signal and even then it will dropout. Around the corner are some the biggest names in IT in the world so hardly in the sticks. I am continually frustrated by calls dropping out. And Lara can stuff a marrow in it. The latest privacy issue is a disgrace. Sounds like anyone with a store ID can access our details from any PC anywhere. Usernames and passwords are shared in the store. There is no second factor authentication which would reduce risk. Not sure if to TIO or take part in the class action. Hopeless clowns. |

Re: Vodafone Issues
Ive been told by Vodafone that the guy I spoke to last week gave me wrong information and I have to pay to get out of the contract. And that things 'might start to improve at end of Jan, however work will continue for at least 3 months but I cannot get out of my contract'
They also said to tell TIO that everything is being sorted and 'will be fixed'. To say I have had enough is an understatement. I shall call TIO back tomorrow but not sure how this will pan out. |

They said I have another 3 months of this. I shall call TIO tomorrow but will tell them no resolution has been reached. I am wondering how much a court case will set me back and how long it will take to get to court, they want $1000 off me for breach of contract if I cancel, yet they are allowed to breach my contract. Its not fair. |
Re: Vodafone Issues
Vodafone store systems are web based and accessible anywhere on the net. The nature of data accessible means there should be multiple factors of authentication available so that even if a credential is compromised it cannot be used by me on an Internet cafe infested with password stealing Trojans.
I read a report that Telstra use the same system but I do not know how it is secured. At a minimum Vodafone are negligent and complacent.

Re: Vodafone Issues
Well spoke to the TIO this morning and told them that vodafone told me to tell the TIO that 'everything was getting sorted' even though it isnt. The TIO didnt sound happy and have said it has now been escalated and someone will be in touch within 2 weeks.
They asked what I wanted and I said a functioning and adequate service, not compensation, and as this will go on for a while yet I do not want nor have three months to give them, probably more than 3 months so I want out of my contract. Lets see what happens now. |
Re: Vodafone Issues
Sign up for the VF AU class action.
Follow the link from the front page of the Piper Alderman site. http://www.piperalderman.com.au/ "Calls dropping out, reception issues, poor data performance – this is not what Vodafone customers signed up for. Vodafone, however, has continued to charge customers on its mobile plans, without providing the service it promised. Customers who signed up with Vodafone over the last three years may be entitled to compensation if they were misled into signing contracts or if Vodafone did not live up to its end of the bargain. We are investigating a class action against Vodafone to recover losses suffered by its customers over the last three years, plus interest. If you are one of these customers, register your interest in joining the class action. There will be nothing to pay unless you successfully recover compensation." |

http://www.zdnet.com.au/get-some-bra...-339308477.htm I want what I am paying for, what I signed a contract for and that does not make me a whinger. They have defaulted on their agreement with me, I was not at any point advised of these issues so I refuse to take the blame for that. Its not rocket science, I do not see why I should pay them $1000 to break out of my contract due to them citing 'breach of agreement' when in fact I have done nothing wrong, have always paid my bills on time - for a service now which I am not receiving. The end result is, they have broken the agreement, they have not provided what is in my contract and letting me out of my contract without penalty is the right thing for them to do. |
Re: Vodafone Issues
Update - TIO called this morning and have said I have a strong case against them, they are now going to write to them again and ask for my contract to be cancelled with the offer of me sending back my Nokia E72.
Its going to take a few more weeks though.:o |

Re: Vodafone Issues
Well two weeks ago Vodafone Resolution Dept called me and surprise surprise it wasnt from an Indian call centre where in the past we have had a two way language problem.
She said she was very sorry and I was to be released from my contract immediately and without penalty, I asked her if I could have it in writing and she said they dont normally do that and I could call back if any problems arose but I have had so much trouble with their call centre being able to understand me and vice versa, I said nope, I want it in writing before i cancel. So minutes later I got the email and the next day went to the Virgin store and got my new iPhone 4 on a $69 per month contract. I was paying that with Vodafone and would get $450 worth of calls a month, 1.5 gb of data and 50 free texts. With Virgin I get $650 calls, 3gb of data, free and unlimited texts in Australia, I can use my credit to call abroad (couldnt do that with Vodafone on the plan I was on) and I get unlimited free calls to other Virgin members which suits my friend and I just fine. And when we went to Metricup down South the other week, Mr PP had no coverage in the cottage we were renting for the duration and very limited coverage in the nearest town and I had perfect coverage for the whole holiday, internet speeds are excellent and in two weeks so far, I have had no call drop outs - nothing. I am so glad I changed, seriously and now I shall see if anyone wants my Nokia E72 as that is going spare. |

My phone has been playing up for 2 weeks - not too bad now but I still cant get the internet that often and I get lots of dropped calls, it never used to be like that so I am sorely tempted. I called the customer service place today and this woman told me she could offer me a brand new phone with interest free payments??? and I could have 3 months free off my bill. But to be honest I do wonder if there are better mobile providers out there  Any of you guys affected by Vodafone last week and would it be enough to make you cancel? |

I didn't get a reply for the first email so I sent a stronger one the second time to a different email address and they rang me about it. Unfortunately we were cut off due to the poor connection and they tried calling me 2 more times and we were cut off again both times! So I rang them whilst standing by an upstairs window ( only place I could get a signal) and they initially offered me 3 months at $25 then 3 months free but after both offers I told them there was no point because I couldn't get a decent signal! So then they asked if I wanted to cancel to which I said ' I suppose you'll try to charge me a cancellation fee. They said I would not be charged as long as I returned the phone!! Needless to say I have cancelled and am now with telstra and the bonus was I upgraded to an iPhone 4!!! So if you aren't satisfied with them see if you can cancel! I'm so glad I did!
Anyway, really pleased with Virgin and my iPhone 4, I am rather addicted to 'touch zoo' and 'angry birds':p |
Re: Vodafone Issues
Glad it worked out in the end, PP.
I've had no more issues with my phone since moving to Telstra so putting it all down to the Vodafone service problems. |

My iPhone goes hot when used heavily and you see the battery go quick.

Re: Vodafone Issues
Been looking into the iphone 4 with vodafone but too scared to commit due to the bad press of late. Currently got a pay as you go sim with them and have had no problems other than when Brisbane flooded I had no coverage for a few hours. Only considering them because they have such a good deal at the mo.
Anyone on the GC had any issues? |
