Victoria Cross
This weekend, Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith (a Perth boy) of the Australian SAS receives the Victoria Cross for bravery when attacking Taliban machine gun positions in Afghanistan.
Well done brother. You are the best of the best and a credit to our nation.

Re: Victoria Cross
You must be very proud.
Is he older or younger than you?

Re: Victoria Cross
Interestingly, the UK has awarded one VC for Afghanistan and that was posthumous. Bear in mind, 10.5k deployed and 350 deaths.
US has awarded 4 MoH (3 posthumous), 1400 deaths, 100k deployed.
Aus 2 VC, 22 deaths, 1.5k deployed.
NZ 1 VC, 0? deaths, 80? NZSAS deployed.
I would expect more US MoH and UK VC. I once read that getting a VC is the army's way of saying you should be 90% dead as 90% are posthumous.

Re: Victoria Cross
I salute you! Brave man.
It's quite awesome that even the highest ranking officer in the Country must salute a VC member first.
