UK Radio in Oz - Instant injection of Britishness.

Had a holiday back to Blighty in June and found a new radio station called Union Jack Radio.
For all of you expats in need of a lift with an injection of britishness then you can find it in a stream or via a mobile phone app.
Sorry if the above reads like an ad but I promise I have no affiliation to the station at at all.
Thought It might be good to share and keep up the spirits of those finding it difficult to adapt to life her.

"Alexa, play Union Jack Radio on Tunein"

plays the theme from the Office.

No need as all of the major (and many minor) UK radio stations are available to stream

We regularly listen to BBC Radio 1, 4 and the World Service of our Amazon Echo

Ahh there's your problem ! hahaha who listens to BBC these days ?

I know there are streams available, I mean its not like radio is new is it ?
The problem is that they are run with opinionated jocks with too much to say.
Union Jack radio is British through and through without the 'Twaddle'.
Not much talk and only British music chosen by the listeners.

One thing in favour of the BBC, and commercial UK stations with their talk-backs etc, they give you a flavour of life in the UK these days. What the 'person in the street' is talking about, what topics are really in people's minds.

Only British music? How sad, insular and pathetic is that?

All Ds talk a lot of shite - some more than others but some are funny and worth a listen to

Radio 4 is just brilliant - quality stuff when you don't want to listen to mindless babble

Only as sad, insular and pathetic as you are being.
If you don't want to listen then don't.
My post was to inform people if they didn't already know of a new station to try not have to put up with twonks like you calling me sad, insular and pathetic for preferring a certain brand of music.

If you've nothing nice to say then don't say anything.
end of thread. :hand:

Found them on TuneIn radio, they won me over by playing the Police first up, then Madness, so certainly worth a go :)

Do you have a way of accessing Tunein?

If so, it's on there. My example from above is via Amazon Alexa, but you can get it on smartphones, smart TVs, and I'd guess PC.

eg https://tunein.com/radio/Union-JACK-s276539/

WTF? Can you actually read English? I never called you 'sad, insular and pathetic'. The fact that a popular music radio station only plays British music is ridiculous

I never knew British music was a 'brand', but looks like I'm learning new things every day

Get your facts right turbo

Add the Tune In Radio app to your smartphone, then search for Union Jack.

Had a real good session going last night that tansported me back to the 1980s :)

There are lots of stations that give away the type of music they play based on their name. Country and western FM doesn't play Hindu music now does it ? Would you call their listeners "sad, Insular and pathetic" too ?

Please, quit now before you make yourself look even more stupid.

I used to listen to Steve Wright in the afternoon via tunein radio, also Ken Bruce but alas no longer:(
