You can burn MPEGS to CDs but you will need to make sure that you can play them back. Your regulard DVD player might be able to, ironically it's often the cheapest DVD players that support all these dodgy file formats you get from bittorrent sites like DIVX.

I'm having mixed results with UKnova. I'm downloading ok & at high speed. On the uploading side, I'm getting green faces but uploads either don't happen or happen very slowly. My ratio is 0.6 & is improving but it is painfully slow. I have upload speed set to 'unlimited'. Any suggestions?

BTW, I can really recommend the BBC series, 'Life on Mars', some of the best TV drama I've seen in a while. 3 episodes in & I'm hooked.

You didn't get that off UKnova. An ISo file is either a cd or dvd image and you can burn an image using something like nero. Alternatively you can get isobuster or winiso from the same place you likely got your iso, and treat it as a zip file.

If you download at fast speed, not only will you choke your upload bandwidth, but you'll whack your ratio.

Don't do both at once. Set your download speed equal to your max upload speed and see what happens. Or stop downloading entirely and see what happens.

The other thing is that you might not be seeding/uploading something that a lot of people want; or your uploaders might be on dialup yes dialup and not able to upload quickly.

See what your U/L speed is like if you limit D/L speed to the same as U/L or stop seeding entirely.

I've sorted UKnova out now. I've learnt a lot over the last week, port forwarding, NAT problems etc. I currently have a ratio of 2.42 & improving. Things got better when I started using Azureus.

I'm getting to watch some decent TV now.

Did you see that four part series about sex? there was one show called "sleeping with teacher" - one about people strangling each other as they have sex and another featuring a so called "sex addict" - he was a horrible little runt with a very attractive wife he had only shagged 7 times in about as many years - yet was addicted to phone sex, porn and shagging women he'd met on the internet.

The best thing was his "therapy" when the therapist told him that from that day on he was never allowed to wank again. He compared it to an alcoholic taking just one drink. Classic stuff. Better than most Aussie TV anyway.

Oops, sorry. An iso file retains the exact layout of a CD or DVD and is most often encountered on pirate sites because a lot of programs will only install from an original CD. You can create an exact copy using the ISo image file, which is different to just copying the files onto a blank disk.

UKnova isn't supposed to allow any material that is available commercially, but I guess someone has just made their own DVD from a recording, and then made an iso from that. Would have been better Zipped or rar'ed because iso files are bigger than they need to be.

In nero, you can try to "burn image" and select the iso file. If it doesn't work, find winiso and it will extract the video files from the iso.

Renth it's nice to meet another person with an equally warped sense of humour, my husband and I love Night Night but most people haven't even heard of it. It was stuck on at 23:00 in UK on BBC 2 so supose most people missed it.

Must admit haven't heard of the Mighty Bosh is it of similar humour?

Yes, it does, in theory.... but you'll notice that speeds change all the time because of people coming on/offline, changing their own speeds.... what you are setting is maximums, but you can't guarantee that they'll be reached, either up or down. In general, having a high upload WILL slow a download; having a high download may or may not slow upload or other downloads.

If one wants to achieve optimum results one has to monitor the bloody thing like air traffic control but as far as "set it and walk away" I like Azureus better than BitTornado.

As to NAT -- are you using a firewall/router? Here in the US the most common brand is Linksys.
