That hasn't been said, but presumably from places like the far East, maybe even Australia, certainly they will have to do something if it shows signs of going on a long time. People have been hiring coaches, taxis, cars + drivers to get back from places in Europe. Ferries are fully booked as is the tunnel.

The biggest UK navy ships are to be sent to European ports to bring home lots of stranded people. There are about 150000 stranded in Europe alone. many running out of money, or who have already run out.

Well we arrived in Santander today from Madrid and have booked a Brittany Ferry for Wednesday at 15:15. It's a 23 hour trip with no sleeping quarters and cost 400 Euros for our fam of four.

They have made an extra 200 places available on the ferry for the stranded. Hope it doesn't sink now with all the extra weight.

Well, we're in the Bahia hotel now. Been travelling all day from a sleepless night flying from Joburg to Madrid. We are really knackered.

Anyway, as we walked into the hotel to check-in, the guy at reception asked Mrs Alfresco if she would speak with ITV news who were on the phone. So she did and they are going to come and interview her tomorrow.

All freshening up now and then going out for dinner.

Ha! As if . You`re enjoying your enforced holiday extension too much. BTW Archer wants to know who is looking after Archie? Is he still here? Or there?

What an odyssey! But at least you're nearly home . Where will your ferry be docking in the UK?

The only European destination outside of the cloud that MAS flies to is Rome so we're sitting tight in KL for now. Yesterday in KL city there seemed to be Europeans wandering around everywhere I looked. We're provisionally booked to fly to London on Friday .

My OH flew from SIN - MEL on Emirates last night....plane very, very empty apparently, presumably due to no European connecting traffic.

At least they managed to get the old armrests up economy bed!

It's the idea of all those navy uniforms and having to hold onto the sailors as we brave the high seas that I like!!

Girls were enjoying the extension, but an email from school yesterday means they now have 'distance learning' and another homework email address to send their completed work to! The headmistress and deputy are also stranded abroad somewhere - not together - that's not a nice thought!!

Archie is here in Melbourne keeping Iain company. Two boys alone in the big city....
Has Archer chewed his way through any more shoes??

I have now rebooked flights for the 3rd time - so fingers crossed the airports will be open by Sunday morning!
