The 'Gong is Wollongong. I'm actually about 25k South of the 'Gong in a place called Shellharbour.
I think you showed some piccies before of where you live and from memory it looks lovely:thumbup: PS. If you re-show them make sure they're not Imax cinema size;):D |
Re: Ugly City
Fabulous pics of Sydney, it certainly is a spectacular vista. OH works in the tall blue glass building right on Circular Quay, and keeps getting told off for looking out of the window!!!! (The novelty hasn't worn off even after 3.5 years.)

Sydney is a beautiful city by anyone's standards and these are fab pictures:thumbup: I despair at people making their first trip down the Hume to Melbourne, because that approach along all the factories in Campbellfield is probably one of the worst City gateways I've seen anywhere.... Especially in February after a heatwave. It has to paint Melbourne in a very bad light for visitors, as first reactions are normally the ones that stick. Certainly doesn't look welcoming thats for sure. Imagine this about 10k's further on with Factories either side for about 20 mins or so. http://resources1.news.com.au/images...me-highway.jpg Just up the road in Craigeburn.... http://www.detail360.com/Db/DbFiles/...4/foto1_profil Whats really missing is the miles of Chain link fence... http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5022/5...83d2cdfa_b.jpg I will add that Melbournes architecture is definitely better than Sydney... once you get into the older part of the city. |

Do you know Chris all your posts regarding Australia are so negative there's absolutly no balance or voice of reason whatsoever which is quite funny really given your avatar says otherwise:huh:
just saying like..... At least (on this occasion) he had the foresight to label all cities as crap. I love cities ...when I am doing all the things I enjoy in them - and can escape the worst. Infact I like the best of both worlds - work and entertain in the city, live in the country. (How many people are effected by drive-by shootings? Not many. There is crime everywhere - a favourite BE cry!) |

Know what you mean too, about those highway entries. The view of the CBD from the Monash at Warrigal Road (approaching from the SE) is quite good. We've had 2 weeks of real summer weather and Melbourne is starting to brown off already in some areas... |
Re: Ugly City
Still look far more picturesque than heading into the likes of Glasgow.
