TV in perth

Hi there,

This may seem a silly question, but me my wife and family are due to arrive in perth in roughly january to start our new lifes. I was in oz 15 years ago, and from what i can remember the tv wasnt too hot. My wife has asked me to ask on this about it, we are from scotland and she likes the soaps, emerdale, coronation st, eastenders, ect, downton abbey and stuff, x factor, kardashians and stuff. Are these programs on over there? as i said , is a silly question, but just one i need to ask, as little things like this will make her feel more settled and stuff....

any info would be great.....

TV in Perth is complete shit. You need to be able to download stuff/use BBC iPlayer etc... if you don't want to go insane.

This also means you have no idea what colleagues are going on about when they talk about some lame TV show/celebrity at work.

Agreed.

5 minutes of a crap show followed by 5 minutes of crap adverts, repeat.

If you get Foxtel it's pretty much all on there. Coronation St and Eastenders are about a month behind the UK, no idea about Emmerdale. Downton Abbey is on one of the mainstream channels but about 9 months after the UK so that's definitely one she'll want to download. We don't get UK X factor here (download it) but there is an Aussie version. All the Kardashian rubbish is on E I think (don't watch it)

Here's a viewing guide for the normal and digital channels for her to peruse (just change the region to WA)

Foxtel TV Guide

I have Foxtel.. I often wonder why I bother.
I signed up for the football, but that's usually on a stupid o'clock so I hardly watch it.

I'm dumping Foxtel as soon as my latest discount deal expires next month.

Unless you are really into sport (which I'm not) there's no point having it. not now I've got Netflix, Hulu Plus, iPlayer, All my other Roku 3 channels etc... for a fraction of the price.

But you need a decent speed for those services. Which we haven't got:frown: My cunning plan to do something similar has been thwarted - until we get the NBN (if it ever happens:blink:)

The best TV channels in Australia are:
Isohunt
TV Chaos UK
BBC iplayer
4OD
Netflix
etc

Anything that you want to see is available to you with not much effort. In fact, I reckon we have it better - you get to see exactly what you want to see and don't have to put up with all the shite like Britain's got no talent, The Great British Wank Bake, Ant & Dec etc. UK TV is good but they also broadcast a lot of crud

We only watch what we want to watch. The idea of sitting down to just watch what's on is now alien to me
