Loved Turnbull this week.

Shorten a leader of the state and national Trade Union organisations who used those roles for his own advancement, at the expense of workers, married twice into prominent families.

I have no time for Shorten.

Turnbull admits he has made some coin : he had some advantages but also got that scholarship and largely worked hard.

Another poster on the Trump thread keeps banging on that he has had a few failed businesses. So what? He's run businesses and that's what a country needs. Same with Turnbull. He's put his balls and money on the line and run businesses. Some will fail. Its a fact of life.

Shorten is a lifer union man. No balls on the line there.

He cannot be PM. His resume stinks.

Neither deserve the honour of leading the country. Nor does anyone who craves it. The role of Prime Minister should be scrapped as anyone that gets it is usually the born to rule type. And far too many make 'captains calls' or decisions in line with their own beliefs and not what's best for the country.

Saying that, it was a huge relief when Turnbull replaced Abbott. Both men are bullshitters but it's easier to listen to Turnbull. And he's not as far right as Abbott. Shorten isn't even the top pick of the Labor party. He was selected as leader because of the voting system that undervalues regular members of the Labor party who largely voted for Albanese. If he was selected as Labor leader, Australia would have a Labor government now. Similar I guess to Sanders being the best choice for US president.

Albenese is another one who has never lead anything, had his balls on the line, put his money where his mouth is.

I guess one thing going for him is his lack of participation in the union movement.

The Singapore system is best. Pay them well to attract the best and therefore Singapore has one of the highest living standards in the world.

I thought it was outrageous and unprofessional, and probably a new low I think all MP's on all sides should behave better and set a higher standard. All this petty bickering and name calling would not be welcome in the school yard.

On the subject of some advantages but worked hard I saw this recently - A short comic gives the simplest, most perfect explanation of privilege I've ever seen. - food for thought?

Since you mention Trump and his admirable qualities and obliquely refer to me I'll set you straight.

He (Trump) put his father's billions 'on the line' to be strictly accurate and at least 4 times he ran the business into insolvency and resuscitated it thanks to the principle of limited liability which doesn't extend to individuals. Where's the 'putting your balls on the line' when you can try, fail, refinance the business (often with loans from Muslims), fail ............ 4 times. You can read into it that it's something to be admired if you like.

Trump bragged about his fortune which is less than he claims. He also could have put daddy's money in the bank or bought shares, sat back and had a much larger fortune than he has now. (Trump brags on his website that his fortune is in excess of $10 bill; most independent analysts put it at less than half that). A bit like the crowd at his inauguration really.

I've said before - if you laud Trump for his failures, racism, sexism, favouring inequality etc - why don't you extend the same to all (e.g. Shorten)?

Some do and some don't; there's no blanket rule in anything - 'all muslims are evil and potential terrorists' is an example; equally 'no muslims are evil and potential terrorists' is equally ludicrous. As you know political satire has a hint of the truth in it.

I didn't say he did and I wouldn't know if he has or hasn't got an opinion similar to that of the more privileged character in that cartoon. I just saw it earlier this week and thought it relevant as a general observation.

As to the things he did say - I found it unprofessional as I said. A disgraceful display in my opinion, but only one of many seen this week during question time, and elsewhere.
