Default Trip to Europe - suggestions please!!!

Hi all,

I need some suggestions from the well travelled here please!!

We're headed back to uk for xmas this year YAY!! escape from inferno xmas...hello sub zero xmas! It's going to be me, my daughter, my son & his GF. Son & daughter haven't been back since we arrived here over 8 years ago, GF has never been, so it's going to be an experience for them to say the least!! None of us have been to Europe so thought it may be good to go before xmas. We arrive in London on the 1st December & we're spending 6 nights in London leaving for Europe on the 6 December. Now my question is where would any of you suggest to go for approx 10 days? It's daughter's 18th while we're there & she fancies Paris..I quite fancy Prague...but I'd really appreciate any suggestions any of you may have.

Thanks in advance...this is probably going to be the last holiday I get with my kids and want to make it awesome

Paris by eurostar for a few nights, then onto Swizerland or Vienna, Austria for a magical christmassy feel. Then you could go to Prague from there.

Paris for New Year can be a bit feral. Make sure you don't take any handbags out and keep money on you to a min and your wits about you at night when walking around. A couple of websites for you for accommodation.

Well, Paris via Eurostar is obvious, and I'd tend to say somewhere you can guarantee snow as well (coming from the Sunshine coast). Personally I'd look cultural, but given the ages of the individuals you have in tow, I'd suggest thinking from the perspective of older teenage mind first and foremost.

Worth thinking of "out by train, back by plane".

Don't forget places to go in the UK.

Prague is by far my most favourite city in the world. Absolutely stunning and often snows that time of year

Prauge was ruined the minute it jumped on the bucks and hen night party bandwagon. Too many riff raff go there now and at times it is like 2am / nightclub turning out time in a north English town / city with people pissing and puking in the gutters and fights breaking out.

Glad that I caught Prauge just after the wall came down and before is became too popular for its own good. Even Tallinn in Estonia is becoming like this but Riga in Latvia retains its charm, for now anyway.

The German Christmas markets are a good shout mind.

Munich or Nuremburg for the christmas markets or Cologne all are good but i hope you like Gluhwein or schnapps as that makes it more fun. Brugges is beautiful too. I would say definitely Vienna and don't forget London

The elder two are 23 & not into partying by a long shot..mind you neither is daughter..she doesn't even like alcohol!! All three are more into the culture & history of anywhere we go...so it's only me that's the pisshead We've got London covered as we're staying there for our first week. As far as the rest of the UK we've got a rough plan in between all the visits to the rellies

I've been looking at Nuremburg for the xmas markets (possibly flying there straight from London..and then onto Salzburg...then thinking of getting a train from there to Paris for a couple of days before heading back to uk. I'm hoping despite being a long journey there may be awesome views enroute, failing that we travel overnight. As we've only got about 10 days for this I reckon 3 places may be the max we can do otherwise we'll spend far too much of our time travelling.

All this will prob change again next week but right now it's beginning to look like a plan!!
