Re: Traffic Infringement Notice
Usually the best option on a motorway with a small animal - saw something similar earlier this year when someone's dog had got onto the motorway (running in the direction the traffic was heading) and the driver had no choice but to drive straight over it.

Yes inappropriate speed can definitely kill that's for sure but to be told you are a criminal if you are doing 65 in 60 is just absurd.
And any wanker can be going significantly lower than the speed limit, not be concentrating and kill.
It's not as simple as saying speed kills - more like it's being careless* or inappropriate for the conditions that causes a crash.
Speed is the factor within the formula that plays a major part in determining the likely severity of the consequences from the crash. Factors which take the attention of the driver away from the road can also cause issues, such as speed cameras, excessive road signs, someone else making a dangerous manoeuvre.
*I included careless, as there are times when a crash may be caused not by the driver but by someone else, such as a pedestrian being careless and walking onto the road at the wrong time (e.g. crossing against the lights). There used to be a notorious spot for this in my home town.

Stick to the speed limit, no point in comparing the roads to Formula One, it is not a Formula One race track, they are every day roads that everyone has to use. So respect the speed limit.
5km can make a difference on impact - if you cant or wont obey the speed limit then just pay the fines and move on. If you want a race track comparison, go and find one and drive on it.
As I said before, whatever the limit is set at, there will be people that think they can safely drive faster.
Yes it is dangerous to go below the speed limit, but in this discussion of exceeding the limit - if not being fined is so important to you, then dont exceed it.

There is deffo a difference with even going 5km over the limit. I reckon no matter how high the limits are set, people always think they know better and will drive faster.
I am sure if they were T bones by someone exceeding the limit by 9kms p/h or so, they would notice the difference.
I understand that it is easy to not notice going a few kms over when driving, but its the moaning about the speeding ticket that gets to me.

I'm not sanctimonious about 26 years of penalty free driving.... I've driven cars with well dodgy speedos in my day and have exceded the limit....
On purpose by nearly 100% and crossed red lights on purpose too... Specifically When HE got bitten by the snake.... As I said at the time... Would have lost my license had I been pinged... I just wanted to get HIM to hospital alive...
Anyone could argue quite rightly what right did I have to supposedly endanger others lives by breaking the speed limit... None whatsoever.... I would in my defence say that I have my advanced motorists etc... But thats no defence if I had caused an accident
There but by the grace of God go I....
Its also very easy when you're used to driving at other countries speed limits which are higher to go over the limit here.... Without noticing... You develop a feel for the "right" speed and arent constantly checking your dials etc .... If you've learned to drive overseas and youre an experienced driver its bloody hard to unlearn skills that you have aquired that are second nature to you...
As a learner driver you're thinking about changing gear, checking mirrors, indicating etc etc etc, you dont think about them as you go on....
Its the same with speed.

That advert for anti speeding....
If I had been doing 70mph I would have been 500 yards up the road before you even thought of stepping into it without looking.....

Of course. Which is why they have speed limits.

Re: Traffic Infringement Notice
Speed cameras are an easy source of revenue here......probably why they keep the ridiculously low speed limits.
