tinned tomatoes..yes, really.
Yes, this is my first post since we emigrated and it's hardly the worst thing to happen to us since we got here (will be posting an update soon!) but can anyone recommend DECENT tinned tomatoes?! I've tried a few different brands in chilli, bolognaise etc and they've all been watery and gross. The sauce is either watery and tasteless or dries up altogether..I'm wondering if quorn is different over here too, seems to soak up a lot more than it used to...
Yes, I have bigger fish to fry but tomatoes is what I'm going with... Tx |

Yes, I have bigger fish to fry but tomatoes is what I'm going with... Tx We use Ardmona tinned tomatoes (no added salt, like most things around here) and to my tomato tuned taste buds they taste OK, if a little tomatoy. Either that or el-cheapo Woolies Select brand, and to my tomato tuned taste buds they also taste OK, if a little tomatoy. I have not tried other brands, doubtless there are ones that you can buy over the internet from the US for a third of the price. This will also make Gerry Harvey unhappy(er) so it's a win-win. |
Re: tinned tomatoes..yes, really.
Haven't noticed a difference to be honest. If anything I think they're better as I used to buy Asda own cheapo ones in the UK and buy Woolies Select ones here!

Re: tinned tomatoes..yes, really.
Annalisa brand. Think they are italian. But similar price range to other brands.

Re: tinned tomatoes..yes, really.
We have found that most of the brands here are as nice if not better than back in the UK, why should that be so:ohmy:

Yes, I have bigger fish to fry but tomatoes is what I'm going with... Tx There will come a time when the flavour of Australia's imported tinned produce will be merely a minor irritation in the scheme of things. That said, welcome to the arse end of the World. |

Debs like that to, she can eat tomato ketchup but will not go near a real tomato. She will also eat pasta sauces:confused:
