If people have voted for a government who aren't asking for this, then perhaps you are in a minority of people who want this and hence, you're disappointed on it not being there.

I was just trying to point out that it is the government who decide police policy and not the police themselves, or indeed, individual officers.

It will be interesting to see if there is mood for change going forward.

Utter rubbish, show me the figures that back this up and name some names, bearing in mind that there usually at least 2 or 3 cops murdered in the UK each year.

Haha, amazing how two lines of written crap can say so much about a
person

The only people who usually know "a lot of cops" are other cops, or criminals
So which are you bingo? an imbecilic cop, or a criminal?

Actually, as it's the Chief Constables who decide how many firearms officers are deployed and where, in theory, I can't see anything that would stop them introducing firearms training to all of their officers without prior government approval.

This would be my concern too.

There are highly trained armed response units in every force, for the occasions when they are needed. I don't think all police need to be armed routinely.

Nothing will change and why should it, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

Next week at the funerals will show a huge outpouring of sympathy and solidarity for the boys in blue highlighting just how rare such a despicable cowardly act this was. Gun crime is still incredibly rare in the UK and a major reason for that is the police are not armed routinely and that's the way the vast majority of the population and the police prefer it.

It might be hard for someone from South Africa or the USA to understand but that's just how it is.

Rates of gun crime have nothing to do with the police being armed or not and everything to do with the criminals ability to get his hands on a gun.

Total and utter bollocks (but not surprising seeing as it's coming from you). If this is true explain the situation in Sweden, Canada, Finland, Australia etc.

Just look at how often we hear about people being shot by overzealous Aussie cops even when they had other means of 'defense' at their disposal so yes you are probably correct.
