I think I may look at carrying something around - just in case. I can tell if I haven't taken my medication for just one day so I dread to think what I'd be like if it were longer. Even if they did notice my scar.......and assumed I needed thyroxine......the wrong dose would also send me loopy!! :) |

The SOS Talisman bracelets / necklaces are good for this sort of situation. Especially diabetics or major allergy people. It is one of things we are told to look for on an unconcious patient.

I'm an ICU nurse - we often get unconscious people admitted. We get their medical history from their NOK or their doctor. If all else failed, we'd do full bloods and notice they needed thyroxine - TFTs are not uncommon.
Not taking thyroid replacement is not immediately life-threatening, so it doesn't really warrant a medic alert like insulin-dependent diabetes, which IS immediately life-threatening. |
