Thomas Dux supermarkets

Does anyone know if there are a lot of these supermarkets around? One near me in Crows Nest and its definitely the best supermarket I've seen over here. Good quality, organic fresh food and good selection. A breath of frsh air from the Woolies and Coles scamachain

I see. Shame really as I hate Woolworths. That seems to happen a lot over here with big chains such as Woolies and Fitness First buying up the competition. I just hope they dont change it into a typical Woolies.

I know that TD in CN, and it is excellent. Don't see the prob ... it's a bit like Waitrose in the UK.

Thomas Dux in Crows Nest used to be Macro and was, IMHO, better then for dried goods, store-cupboard supplies, etc. Admittedly I was in there not long after it opened so it was possibly still being stocked, but I don't see how Dove toiletries are in any way organic or healthy. They don't stock anywhere near the range of gluten-free, yeast-free bread that Macro did either.

There is also one in Lane Cove - I haven't been to that one but The Geek sometimes pops in on his way home (got him well trained) and says it's better than the Crows Nest one.

Yes, owned by Woolies. You'd be surprised just what they own...or maybe you wouldn't.

One thing that surprises many is this:

More than 11,000 poker machines owned by the supermarket giant Woolworths, operate at Woolworths-owned pubs around the country.
Who here, drinks at Woolworths ?

Three down. At this rate you might have to winkle your own periwinkles down on the shores of Port Jackson.

Yes, the thought of periwinkles does improve the appetite.

It's also a South African company now, part of the Pick n Pay Group.

Pretty popular as a discount store though in some areas.
