He didnt have a brilliant night now they have stopped his anti inflamm tablets:(

He is crashed on the sofa wrapped up in a blanket. He doesnt want to take the morphine all the time, so took some mersyndol night strength which has helped a bit.

We spoke to the wreckers yard today who confirmed the car is indeed 'crumpled' and a write off, we sort of knew that as he had to be cut out but it was hard to hear it officially, Mr PP went pale when he was talking on the phone to them.

We are still waiting on the cops to interview, him - they are behind on their paperwork. I would like to be there when they come round - I wonder if they just turn up or do they organise a time?

He certainly isnt well or mobile enough to come to the station.

I dont like this one bit. His leg injury is more apparent, the doctor said its a large haematoma on it - not on the bone but when he wears shoes he has a really bad limp.

They xrayed it 10 days ago, I am hoping its not a hairline fracture:(

Hes just had his strong painkillers and is fast asleep, I keep looking at him - I wish I could take this away from him. I cant believe that 2 weeks ago today everything was normal in our lives.

Wish I could turn the clocks back. I know I cant but I just wish I could do something.

Weirdly and I wince as I type this....crazy shit like this can reaffirm how much we have in life and how much we really have to lose. I often think that we spend far too much time on what we haven't got and want, the material, and far too little time appreciating what we have been given, the people.

That is so true.

Im having a bad day today, really really bad - I am so glad he is in the bedroom so I can bloody cry in the living room without him seeing.

Its one injury coming out after another and although his lungs are better - he is now struggling to walk.

Shit I wish I could do something.:(

Thinking of you both. It must be very hard for you to watch him in pain & be so helpless to do much for him but the fact that you are there, loving & caring for him, is everything.
Big hug & stay strong, you can do it!

I will say to anyone to appreciate those they love, if they piss you off then try to imagine how you would be without them in your life.

Sam, can't you get him to a hospital to double check his leg and ask if they would re-xray it. Maybe they did miss a small fracture before. At least you would know one way of the other.

We would be lucky to get a taxi to come up our way:huh:.

Doctor stopped his anti inflam tabs on Thursday and his pain has worsened since then.

He could at least walk on it yesterday.

He is going to rest up tomorrow or I shall tie him to the chair.

Thanks Vash.

Hes going to see his GP Monday and see about his leg.

Its early days I guess - 2 weeks today and it takes ages for internal bruising to come out.

One side of him is purple, quite a nice shade actually and I chose some pillow cases with that colour in mind:sneaky:

Money is a worry, if he needs longer than the 6 weeks docs have signed him off for, then the shit hits the fan.

Funnily enough I had an interview with ANZ to sort out income protection, but cancelled it due to a meeting at work.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Re: Thinking of you PP

What a weekend!

After having gut instincts about Mr PPs leg since Wednesday, I checked it properly last night and remembered that when I broke my fibula in Thailand years ago, Mr PP was presenting with the same symptoms.

Ignoring advice from family of how you cannot walk with a broken leg (I did for 5 weeks prior to diagnosis), we got a cab this morning to our local casualty and muttered to the nurse 'I think my husband has fractured his fibula'

'Oh no, highly unlikely as he can extend his toes but we will xray anyway'

Twenty mins later the doctor came up to us and said 'Good call, you are spot on'. (my gut instincts have been spot on lately, I could burn myself I am so hot!)

So Mr PP has been diagnosed with a fractured fibula and as he cant wear a cast or use crutches, he has one of those boots that look like ski boots so he wins the Stephen Hawkings contest. That cost us $270, he could have had a cast for free but wasnt feasible for him with his ribs/shoulder etc.

The difference has been amazing, he can hobble around without too much pain although they have given him more painkillers.

It is as though a weight has gone from my shoulders, the final injury has been diagnosed - one or two on this site will know I havent relaxed all week and have been upset.

His INR levels are still too low so they have increased his warfarin.

I had to laugh when the doctor asked me about how I knew and when I told her I had the same injury, she asked why and I said I did it in a lesbian pole dancing club in Thailand - very funny it was.

Shame he doesnt have a cast though, I was looking forward to drawing breasts on it.

Now at least he can start healing.

Always trust your gut instincts.....years ago my daughter was sent away from my GP with the diagnosis she was teething....I just knew it was something more and took her for a second opinion. Thank goodness I did as she had meningitis. Hopefully Mr PP will soon be on the mend and you can put this behind you. Take care of yourself too

I snapped the ligament in the side of my ankle - the one that stops or minimises your ankle 'rolling' when you trip in high shoes:lol:

I cant wear high shoes and my ankle swells up in hot weather.

The fracture itself has healed - aches a bit in cold weather. But as for the ankle, well its stuffed. You can have surgery but the consultant said the success rate wasnt that high, I can put up with it anyway - no more high shoes.

I remember people saying 'how did you break your leg?'

'Lesbian pole dancing club in Patong' I would reply.

'No really, how did you do it?'

You are a bit of a walking miracle though, I reckon you would give Jesus a run for his money.

This type of fracture can take a while to show up, mine took a couple of xrays.

They did xray the leg when he first came in and it didnt show then, it only became noticeable once he got home and started weight bearing.

He looks like Optimus Prime from that film, we could call him Optimus Chef or Robo Chef:lol:

I am tempted to hang several pairs of knickers from the velcro of the splint and turn him into a panty tree.

Anyway, how are things with you these days?

I'd hate not being able to wear high heels :( I thought you were just being stubborn about not wanting surgery -- that's what I was upset about, I remember now:p And mad at the doctors for not diagnosing it earlier :frown: Here in The States it would have been fodder for a huge lawsuit
That said, I admire your positive attitude -- you're the one who has to live with it

Apart from it swelling occasionally, its OK - I couldnt be doing with surgery/physio and all that to be honest.

Sam - so sorry - have been back in UK for a break and not been on BE for a while. Shocked to read your thread.

Hope you are baring up okay and pleased to read that Mr PP is on the road to recovery.

I fully understand what you mean by not wanting him to drive again though. Someone rear ended my car last Saturday while I was stationary at a junction waiting to turn right. Stupid woman mis-judged the size of her car and the space between my car and the kerb, thought she could fit through, didn't even slow down and shunted me at a speed of 60kmph. I am currently signed off work with bad whiplash injuries and am now seriously considering whether I want my son to learn to drive here.

:fingerscrossed: for a speedy recovery for your hubby and a bit of a relax for you x x

I learned today that the Mr PPs car 'bent in half like a banana', the steering wheel was pushed into the passenger seat and Mr PP with it. The 4 x 4 that hit him, did so at considerable speed so the force with which Mr PP was hit must have been unthinkable.

The wreckie guy said he turned up and saw him unconcious in the car and saw people trying to find identity on him, he thought he was dead initially and that noone could have survived that.

They still cant get the keys out of the ignition and the boot is buckled, the other car was also a write off.

So I am going to get ID cards for both of us now, they did get his driving permit eventually but only managed to get me because there was a missed call on his phone.

I found today incredibly distressing, I had to get the details for the DPI for the crash report and was in tears - it was very difficult to hear.

A horrible day today.:(
