You guys have obviously never watched Mythbusters on SBS and Discovery Channel, they did an entire episode on this.
Yes its possible to make cookie dough cannister explode in a car if its left in direct sunshine in southern california. I don't know if thats the real article the myth is based on, but, certainly at some point someone did leave a can of cookie dough in their car until it got so hot it exploded into the back of their head, and they thought their brain had been blown out.
Oh hang on, lets just check snopes.com....
